"Certified Sweet®" Onions
Here in the Keystone Kitchen, certified sweet® onions are the only
onions you will find! Keystone "Certified Sweet®" Onions are
comprised mainly of, Vidalia Sweet Onions from the great state of Georgia,
Walla Walla Sweet Onions from the majestic state of Washington and Mayan Sweet
Onions from our South American neighbor, Peru. So how do all of these onions,
from all of these growing regions become Keystone Certified Sweet® Onions? The
short answer is an exceptional growing network, a third-party certification
process, dedicated management from the field to you, but most of all, it takes
great soil to grow a great onion. In Georgia, Vidalia's are grown in a selected
region of the state with a mild climate and a sandy loam soil. The Walla
Walla's in Washington are grown in a mild climate but benefit from the rich
volcanic soil in the region. Mayan sweet onions grow in a unique combination of
rich soils with low sulfuric acid content and a dry climate, which is created
by the Pacific coastal deserts in Central and South America
