A
Rich Heritage
Our growers
grew up observing and participating beside their fathers and grandfathers
-- successfully planning, planting, growing, packing, and shipping
apples for many years before assuming the helms of their organizations.
These second and third generation agribusiness people have refined
and improved techniques that can come ONLY with years of hands-on
experience at every stage of the process. The youngest operation
in this association is more than thirty years old, and the two oldest
have been successfully producing and selling apples for over 86
years. Their informational network of agricultural experts, with
extensive experience in planting and growing apples, has been developed
over many decades. If situations develop outside their base of experience,
our growers have come to know the appropriate people to contact
who have had direct experience in the same or similar circumstances.
A
Commitment to Knowledge
Our growers
were not satisfied to simply grow up and continue doing what their
fathers did – they have remained current with advances in
agriculture and modern technology. Every one of them has continued
his/her education, earning Bachelor’s Degrees in such fields
as Agriculture, Horticulture, and Business Management. They reach
beyond their own personal experiences, utilizing all technical resources
available to them including such organizations as The Penn State
Fruit Research and Extension Center at Biglerville Pennsylvania
(and the Penn State network of outstanding affiliated institutions).
A
Formula for Excellence
This unique
cooperative effort of growers is deeply committed to the following
principle:
In
a world of change, our focus remains the same – to grow, handle,
pack and ship the highest quality apples for you, our customer.
