Consistent High-Quality Apples
Franklin and
Adams Counties in South Central Pennsylvania provide some of the
best growing and climatologically favorable conditions for growing
apples in the United States.
The
Land
| »
|
Gently
rolling hills – providing good wind movement
|
| »
|
Deep,
well-drained soils with the right amount of fertility to give
enough tree vigor, producing optimal quality and size fruit
|
| »
|
When
planning new tree blocks, growers call in expert advisors from
institutions such as Penn State Fruit Research & Extension
Center and follow their recommendations to maximize potential
yield and quality of fruit.

Rainfall
is supplemented by irrigation when necessary. |
The
Geographical Location
| »
|
Climate
– This area is located far enough to the north (with cool
autumn weather) to consistently grow premium apples.
|
| »
|
We take advantage of southern slopes in our orchards, providing
the correct amount of light intensity to produce high color
fruit.

“Snappy
Apples”
Fruit grown in this region, in general, has a high acidic concentration,
which is a very desirable characteristic. (Apples without adequate
acidity have been described as “tasting like cardboard.”)
Our apples are subjected to the proper amount of climatic stress
via sufficient periods of cold, dryness or heat during the growing
season, which adds to the development of the apple’s tart/snappy
taste. |
Versatility
– Specialization – Proximity
| »
|
Because
of our centralized location, we provide next day delivery to
customers in the Northeast US, Mid-Atlantic States, the Ohio
Valley, and most of the Southeast US.
|
| »
|
Specialized packing and storage is performed at five separate
locations in a twenty-mile radius.
|
| »
|
We
have modernized or are modernizing our pack lines to take full
advantage of the latest packing technology (such as electronic
color sorting, computerized PLU sticker application and weight
sorting, etc.) to insure that your fruit will be packed to your
specifications.
|
»
|
Storage
facilities at each location (including traditional cold storage
and controlled atmosphere storage) are located adjacent to the
packing operation – assuring you that your fruit has been
carefully placed into the appropriate storage immediately after
packing. |
